Orlando Downtown |
Downtown Orlando is a mix of business, culture and fun nightlife.
The past decade has brought change and growth to Downtown Orlando. Church Street Station was closed and has since slowly been opening new restaurant and night spots, new high rises and condo towers have transformed the skyline and more people now live in the downtown area.
Over the next few years additional changes are expected as Orlando build a brand new arena and performing arts center. The condos that site empty today will gradually fill up as the Orlando population continues to grow.
Downtown is a more local scene, but tourist enjoy it too. There is Lake Eola Park, some nice galleries galleries, small theater houses, a diverse amount of restaurants and very spread out but limited shopping area. This to is changing as new businesses and residents move into downtown.
And so you know, during the day there is not a lot going on other than the History Museum. At this point it is not day time destination. However...
The real treat for visitors is the Downtown Orlando bar & club scene that has exploded over the last decade. You'll find over 50 venues that range from wild and crazy like Makos to Party Bars like Chillers, Ciaro, Tabu, and Wall Street Cantina to intimate live settings like The Social and The BackBooth. There are also great Irish Pub like Lizzy McCormacks and the Harp & Celt on Magnolia. Casual hang out bar like Cleo's, Casey's, the Lodge since steps away from rooftop bars like Sky 60 and Reggae on the rooftop at Cairo.
All I can say is that you won't be disappointed and who knows where you will end up, it could be the hidden Spy Bar. Enjoy have fun and remember where you parked.
One thing to note, Orlando bars stop serving at 2 am, there are no after ours clubs like in many cities. Another bit of information the main road Orange Avenue is often closed for pedestrian safety.
If you want a casual sidewalk stroll with interesting store and sidewalk cafes consider heading over to Winter Park they have a lovely downtown that offers a lot more during the day and is a little quieter at night but they do have some awesome wine bars that are worth visiting. |
